Dinner & Sake Tasting with Sequoia Sake

On Thursday 06.28, San Francisco's Sequoia Sake will join us for a four-course dinner and sake pairing. Come meet the brewers and taste a series of Sequoia's made-in-SF sake, each drink paired with a course from Chef Danny Keiser. This is a great opportunity to enjoy great local products, and learn a bit about brewing sake in the Bay Area. Seating is limited to 15. $70

Sequoia Nama

Scallop crudo with cucumber salad, grilled nopales, garden herbs, crema and salmon roe

Altamont Beer Works Tap Takeover

Altamont Beer Works is joining us at The Periodic Table for a tap takeover. We'll feature a selection of five great beers brewed here in the East Bay, with flights, pints, and all-night happy hour. From 6-8 pm, there will be live music in the main hall of Public Market Emeryville. We will start giving raffle tickets to Altamont beer purchasers to win cool Altamont goods.

Emeryville Day on the Bay

The Periodic Table and Shiba Ramen will be at the Emeryville Marina for a Day on the Bay, Saturday 03.24.2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Periodic Table will be pouring East Bay craft beer donated by our friends at Novel Brewing, Gilman Brewing, Triple Voodoo Brewery, and Altamont Beer Works. All proceeds go to benefit the Blue Water Foundation. Shiba Ramen is serving mini spicy ramen and lotus root chips. Day on the Bay features family activities, Emeryville's Shortest Triathlon Ever, and food and drink by the vendors of Public Market Emeryville.  We'll see you there, or maybe at the bar afterwards!

Sake Class, Tasting, & Food Pairing

Join us at The Periodic Table on Saturday 02.24.2018 for an in-depth sake experience. We'll drink our way through a series of four sakes, accompanied by a curated food pairing, featuring cheese, pickles, and small plates by Chef Danny Keiser. While you're drinking, the owners, Jake Freed and Hiroko Nakamura of Shiba Ramen, will give a short talk about the basics of sake and how to approach sake as a casual drinker. We will close off the bar to the public for the duration of our event, and seating is limited to 20.

Even if you can't make the 2 p.m. seminar portion, we'll offer the four-course sake & food pairing for the same $40 price to walk-in customers for the rest of the day.

Cultivar Beer will join us at The Periodic Table Taproom in Public Market Emeryville for a tap takeover and a conversation with the hop farmer. Flights, pints, and pitchers all day. Mark Cabrera will tell us about his hop farm at 2 pm, and will be with us throughout the afternoon. We'll feature a house-made sausage special all day.

The Umami Experience: Tasting Menu, Drink Pairings, Taste Science Talk

Join us at The Periodic Table on Saturday 01.27.2018 for an all-umami experience. We'll eat our way through a series of small plates by Chef Danny Keiser, each emphasizing different high-umami ingredients. Each course will be accompanied by a curated drink pairing, featuring sake and other drinks. While you're eating and drinking, the owner and former organic chemist, Jake Freed of Shiba Ramen, will give a short talk about umami, explaining what it is, how it works, and how to think about it as a taste distinct from sweet, salty, sour, or bitter. Jake's talk will go over the basics of taste science, showing how different chemicals in our foods manifest themselves in our sensory experiences. We will close off the bar to the public for the duration of our event, and seating is limited to 15. 

All participants will have the opportunity to buy bottles of sake and spirits at 25% off the day of the event.
